A little light music for the road

These are a couple of road tapes I made for Australia and New Zealand, the first time in our trip that we’ll be doing any substantial driving. The plan is to get these shipped over along with the relevant  fieldguides and Lonely Planets. Hopefully we’ll be able to rent a car with a cassette player, or the entire exercise will be pointless. More pointless than it already is, I mean.

The idea behind the selection process was to choose mostly noisy, up-tempo tunes, the sort of thing that'll help keep us awake on long stretches of nowhere in the middle of the outback. Within reason of course – you always need a few slow ones to leaven the mix. Consequently these tapes represent only a partial list of favorites – there are plenty of songs I love that would unfortunately make Doreen leap out of the car at any speed (Health & Efficiency, for example) and vice versa. So what we have here is a compromise solution, the sort of stuff that we can both enjoy.
